Teshome Walle (PhD)
Senior Director,Amhara ATA Regional Office
Dr. Teshome Walle is the Senior Director of Amhara ATA Regional Office, He is responsible for leading and overseeing all programmatic and administrative (Finance, audit, procurement, logistics and HR ) functions while integrating the regional office work with that of the ATA headquarter. He has a responsibility of closely engaging with ATA senior management to develop and implement a portfolio of integrated initiatives towards increasing efficiency in crop production, marketing value to agriculture and livestock produce while striving for operation excellence in finance, procurement, logistics and human resources management.
Prior to assuming his present post at the regional level, he was a Senior Director for the Federal Agricultural Commercialization Cluster (ACC) in the ATA and Head of the Amhara Regional Bureau of Agriculture. He has also served as Executive Director of Organization for Rehabilitation and Development in Amhara (ORDA), Deputy Head and Head of the Agricultural Development and Planning & Training Departments at the Bureau. In addition, he has worked as board chairman of the Amhara Forest Enterprise and Amhara Seed Enterprise, Board member of Bahir Dar University (BDU) and Ethiopian Agricultural Business Corporation (EABC). He was also a Guest Lecturer at Bahir Dar University.
Dr. Teshome has served for over 20 years in the areas of agriculture, food security, livelihoods, sustainable land management, and emergency responses for poverty reduction. His wide-ranging experience includes facilitating the formulation of strategy for the sector; designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating programs that impact smallholder farmers; developing technology packages for agricultural interventions; and playing a vital role in designing the regional extension system and scaling up of water technologies, managing and administering financial and human resources.
Dr. Teshome received his PhD in Tropical Agriculture from Kasetsart University in Thailand. He obtained his MSc and BSc in Agricultural Economics from the Crimea Agricultural Institute in Ukraine.
