SENIOR DIRECTOR, IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT
Dereje Biruk is the Senior Director Implementation Support vertical. In this role, Dereje is responsible for supporting teams across the organization to maximize programmatic impact through effective planning, program and project management, analytical and data services, and evaluation and learning. Additionally, he oversees the MoALR Delivery Unit supported by ATA to strengthen the MoALR’s capacity to implement the Agricultural Transformation Agenda.
Prior to assuming this senior Director Position, Dereje served as a Senior Director for Crop and Natural Resources Vertical in the ATA. He joined ATA as Director of the Wheat & Barley Value Chain Program from which he moved on to the Senior Director roles. Prior to joining the ATA, Dereje led the Sustainable Water Harvesting and Institutional Strengthening (SWHISA) project in the Amhara Region, and has extensive experience leading various agricultural institutions in the Amhara Region including working as Head of the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Head of the Environment Protection and Land Administration Authority.
Dereje obtained his MSc from the Free State University in the Republic of South Africa, and his BSc degree from Alemaya University.
